Cricketers PhotoThe Cricketers, as the name suggests, is located overlooking the cricket green in Richmond. Historically, this traditional style pub, which is one of the oldest in the area, was known as the 'Cricket Players' in the early 18th Century and shortened to the present name about 1750.  The earliest recorded game was in 1600. The pub burned down and was rebuilt on the original cellars in 1834, as recorded in the Illustrated London News.  We have always had our own cricket team who now play on Tuesdays and Saturdays. Today, the front of the pub has two big double doors which open up in the summer.  Downstairs is all one area with the bar in the middle, a big fireplace with sofas and a raised area to the back where the plasma screen is.  Here there are two big high bench seats where you can look out onto the green.  Part of the pub has a slate floor with the rest wooden. There is an excellent function room with new oak floor coming in, sofas and big winged chairs there and a fireplace.  We attract many passers by, people from businesses from up and down the street plus the local regulars. The general age range is mostly from mid 20’s to 50+.  Come soon to this pleasant venue where you can enjoy a quiet drink with friends, a snack or meal in a wonderful location.  The friendly, polite staff will make your visit a memorable one.

When you visit the pub please let the staff know you have seen it on Pub Explorer.
