British Queen PhotoDescribed last year by a local newspaper as 'a pub you could quite easily drive past but a different story once inside...', the British Queen is located in Farnborough and well worth a visit.  The pub was originally built beside a strawberry field which grew the variety 'British Queen', hence the name.  The staff generally wear polo shirts sporting the fruit!  The pub is friendly, clean and homely with strangers welcomed by everyone.  Chris and his partner will single out newcomers for a chat and help them feel comfortable.  The slogan here is 'no strangers, just friends we haven't met yet'.  Chris who has been here since 1994, is on the local business committee and involved in the local community.  The pub sponsors two local football teams and holds charity events for Guys Hospital.  There is one open plan bar with one end quieter than the other with no music and the TV turned down.  As you walk in it is easy to distinguish which end suits your requirements!  Being Sports orientated all major matches are shown on the big screen and there is a really good atmosphere when Arsenal are playing!  We can even put a TV in the garden for big events such as the Rugby World Cup, weather permitting.  We have recently changed from Scottish & Newcastle to Spirit Group so why not come and see the difference when next down this way.

When you visit the pub please let the staff know you have seen it on Pub Explorer.
