The Blue Lion is centrally located in
Holborn close to Russell Square tube station, a ten minute walk in one
direction and Kings X, St Pancras and Chancery Lane to the other. The
original Blue Lion was built across the road from here in the 1600’s and
rebuilt in it's present position in 1824. Charles Dickens was known to
frequent the pub and the Charles Dickens House Museum is just a three minute
walk away. The ITV studios are across the road and we are frequented
from time to time by today's famous faces! People in the area
are attracted to this venue by the female friendly atmosphere and the very
warm welcome here. This is a more traditional pub with a contemporary
feel to it. Having had a 'sparkle' in September 2007 this one bar operation
has newly reupholstered furnishings, mainly in leather effect. There
are two big leather sofas with a coffee table which is ideal for a relaxing
drink alone or with friends. Having Cask Marque accreditation you can
be sure your real ale will be served to perfection. Food is served
from a main and special pie menu throughout the
day Monday – Thursday. A pizza menu is
available after the main menu in the evening and all day Saturday. You are welcome to dine
throughout the pub. Come and join the regular clientele who have an
age range of 20+ to the more mature in this comfortable place which is great for lunchtime drinks,
meal, snack or an after work get together.
