The Ailsa
Tavern is an olde worlde listed building situated in a
residential area within sight of the Twickenham Rugby Ground twenty minutes
walk away. History has it that it is named after a landlady from
Victorian times and it is thought that a tunnel runs from here to a house
belonging to an ardent admirer! Nowadays our clientele are mostly
local regulars and Rugby followers. Sport is viewed on the Plasma
screen and there is a darts board for a game with friends over a quality
pint. Outside, there are wisteria vines decorating the walls to the
front of the pub and the beer garden is a favourite haunt as there are not
many in this area. In the summer people bring their children to enjoy
the space whilst they relax over a a tasty meal or a refreshing drink in the
sunshine. In 2005 our outdoor area took on a new look with a
revitalised garden and covered patio. For those looking to hold a private party we are able to
section off part of the bar area, even on Rugby days, to accommodate
them. The Ailsa has such a relaxed, friendly atmosphere and everyone is
made to feel very welcome. Come and try out this sociable pub in the
near future.
