The Royal Oak is to be found in the village of Bishop Cleeves, some three miles outside Cheltenham and within a mile of the race
course. History has it that the pub has been haunted since the mid
18th Century following the tragic death of a mother and child on the
premises. Today this attractive traditional old English pub has a
thatched roof and hanging baskets to the front. There is a non smoking
restaurant extension to the main building and this has 45 covers and can be
separated off for private functions. There is a good locals clientele
along with passers by who come to enjoy the warm, friendly atmosphere and
relaxed ambience. As well as the restaurant there are two bars, one
which is usually frequented by the locals. Quality pub food is
available every day, meals being chosen from a varied main menu. We
have an extensive selection of wines to complement your meal. Outside there is a lovely beer garden where your
meal can be relished in the sunshine on pleasant summers days. Come
along soon and try out this sociable pub.
