Set in the very pretty village of Great Horkesley between
Colchester and Sudbury you will find The Yew Tree. This is the epitome of
how we imagine an English country pub should be. It was built in the early
1600s with a thatched roof, rustic timbers, open coal fires and roses around the
door! There is even a picturesque courtyard. In a past age local
cattle farmers used to meet here before market. Today this is a
destination food house, attracting diners both passing through and from quite a
distance. Like all Chef & Brewer pubs we employ high quality Chefs who have
superb kitchen facilities. The food can be chosen from a main menu
or unique Specials from the chalk boards which allow our Chefs to show
their flair! You will be served meals which have been prepared
from the freshest of ingredients and cooked to order. There is an excellent
choice of wines to accompany your meal or, if preferred, three real ales and a
variety of bottled products from the bar. You can choose where to dine anywhere in the pub with about 130
covers! To create a clean atmosphere the Yew Tree became completely
non smoking in August 2006, only allowing smoking in the garden. Come soon and try out
something rather special on the edge of Constable country.
