Ye Olde Kings Head
soon to be welcomed the very enthusiastic team of helpful
staff. Dating back about 500 years, this Chef & Brewer is a
classic with very inviting surroundings including traditional decor, low
beams and cosy open fires. The large garden is a relaxing
environment to enjoy a drink or dine al fresco in the warmer weather,
from the front of the pub you wouldn't know it was there. Steeped in history we have links
to Charles Dickens who is known to have favoured this pub and we were
even the setting of his 5th novel 'Barnaby Rudge' when known as the
Maypole Inn. Marlon Brando and Churchill have both stayed with us.
We are even haunted! With all our tables candlelit we welcome
couples and families for a superb dining experience. All our meals
are of high quality with a wide choice not only from the main menu but
Chefs specials boards, a great range of fish dishes and a separate steak
menu. There are also regularly changing vegetarian soups which are
popular with everyone, including tomato & stilton or potato & leek to
name a few. Like all Chef & Brewers our dishes are cooked to
order and prepared from the freshest of ingredients, and we are
therefore able to cater for special diets for people with allergies etc. Our wine list
is a comprehensive one, wines available by the glass or bottle. If you are organising a private do why not
consider our popular function room, suitable for up to 100 people, hot and cold
buffets can be provided by us to make your event run smoothly. You
will never leave here feeling any less than completely satisfied and
with such an excellent atmosphere you are likely to come back again and
