REFURBISHMENT	We had a refurbishment early 2011. We have had a fresh, contemporary new look having been re-painted. We also have new toilets. Come along and see the changes for yourself.

So many tastes so little time! Our great value family food and drinks, from steaks to salad and the Super Horse kids menu; there’s something for everyone! Alongside the extensive main menu kids can build their own meal at Hungry Horse with our fun Kids Pick ‘n’ Mix menu. If you need a little more on your plate try the larger meals. All kids get a free activity pack.

The Travellers Joy dates back to the 18th century and the site was formerly used for public hangings! The pub's name originates from a flower which was renowned for growing in the area at the time. Located just 2 minutes from Rayleigh town centre with its train station, we are close to Rochford and Basildon. We re-opened following a refurbishment in April 2008 to which the colour scheme is deep burgundies, browns, mustards and dark blues, which blend together to give a great look. There are also stylish fixtures & fittings with interesting features such as booth seating with TV's in them where channel's such as children's and sports can be viewed. It is all open plan however there is a separate Sports Bar which is particularly busy on Fridays and mid-week when a match is shown, but you can enjoy sport here anytime. We are a great venue but have the added bonus of security here at weekends as this is quite a popular place to be. Part of the Hungry Horse chain we serve hearty meals every day from the extensive menu. We attract many diners in the area and have become one of the best Hungry Horse pubs for meals. If it's just a drink you want our 'Horse Bar' has a peaceful atmosphere where you can relax in comfort or something a little more involved our quiz night or pool competition.
