 The Spa
is a large landmark pub situated on the
B1013 old main road from Rayleigh to Southend. Located on a main
roundabout in Hockley it is easily accessible being close to the railway
station, Southend Victoria to Liverpool Street line, two bus routes and the
local taxi service. Fully refurbished in December 2007, it was built in the 1840's, the venue has a distinctive
Victorian style from the outside having
large sash windows with arch type decorated
plasterwork around. We have window boxes and planters which look
lovely during the summer months and there is a large patio to enjoy the
sunshine. Inside now has a bright, contemporary feel with neutral
colour scheme and new furnishings. As well as free standing tables and
chairs, there is a comfy area with lounge seating. The pool area also
has tall poser tables and chairs. Still a great venue for sports,
matches can be viewed around the pub on four plasmas and a big screen. Panninis are served throughout the day, and you can always enjoy a cup of
freshly ground 'bean to cup' coffee and maybe bring your lap top to take
advantage of our free wireless internet access. We cater for the local
community as well as passing trade and there is always a vibrant atmosphere
as people come to enjoy a great night out with us. Management, staff
and locals at the Spa will give you a very warm welcome.
