Horse & Groom PhotoTwo miles from the centre of Chelmsford, on the outskirts of the picturesque village of Writtle you will find the Horse & Groom.  Situated in a rural setting, part of the building dates back to the 19th Century and the pub was converted from an old granary located on the main coaching road which will have been used by travellers by stagecoach!  Today, traditional features have been preserved with the original old beams, hops and harlequin furniture of dark wood.  We even have candles on the tables and three open fires!  This is very much a destination food house with the emphasis on quality.  Like all Chef & Brewer pubs we employ high quality Chefs who have superb kitchen facilities.  The food can be chosen from a main menu or unique Specials from the chalk boards which allow our Chefs to show their flair!  You will be served meals which have been prepared from the freshest of ingredients and cooked to order.  We have an extensive choice of wines to complement your meal or, if preferred, three real ales or bottled products available at the bar.  Knowledgeable staff are always at hand to help in the decision making!  Come along soon and try out this fantastic venue.  Your first visit is sure to be one of many!
