The Halfway House has a separate room suitable for meetings, conferences and private functions including funeral gatherings, small weddings of up to 50 people etc. Room hire is free of charge. Buffets or seated meals available, also coffee / tea, biscuits & sandwiches etc for meetings. Waitress service is provided for all occasions. We’re proud to serve the very best of British meats from our Carvery. All of our joints are sourced from British Red Tractor Assured farms.

Our Carvery selection changes daily and today’s roasted joints will be usually a choice of 3 of the following:
Matured Saxon British beef, Norfolk turkey, Stuffed belly of pork, Outdoor bred gammon, West Country shoulder of lamb.

All served with a homemade Yorkshire pudding, chipolata sausage and stuffing, accompanied by your choice of freshly prepared vegetables and topped off with our roast onion (v) or roast meat gravy. Don’t forget to help yourself to our selection of condiments.

Monday to Saturday Ł5.95. Sunday Ł8.95.

If you do not fancy a Carvery meal our Table menu has a comprehensive range of the best pub food dishes. Why not try our 'Homemade Pie of the Day' served with your choice of Carvery vegetables.

Halfway House pub, Southend on Sea The Halfway House is a new Carvery venue, located on the sea front in the up market area of the Eastern Esplanade some way from Southend town centre. Built in the late 1800’s it is a former Coaching House which has been much extended over the years. This is a classic British carvery but with a contemporary twist, light and airy with comfortable modern furniture. There is a sumptuous feel with walls decorated in creams, sage green, deep plum and chocolate brown. Behind the carvery you will see our range of wines with over 200 bottles on display. There is a large restaurant to the rear of the building. You can also choose to dine on the patio or in the bar area which overlooks the sea, where you are welcome to come along for just a coffee and maybe take advantage of our free wireless internet access. Our new daily carvery offers you the best of British produce, with a choice of up to 3 roasts and wide selection of fresh seasonal vegetables. If you don't want a full carvery meal we provide a a table menu with main dishes and snacks / sharers available. To complement your meal or enjoy alone, we offer an extensive selection of world wines, choice of fine real ales and premium draught lagers. Being next to a Premier Inn we also have many business people in for a drink or a meal. Breakfast is available to guests of the hotel and walk in people as well. There is a separate function room, suitable of any occasion from breakfast meetings to conferences or even small weddings, we will ensure your event is well catered for.
