Photo Coming SoonSituated in the village of Herongate, outside Brentwood, The Boars Head is a quaint small pub which attracts a wide range of people.  We are not far from the two Ford factories and receive plenty of lunchtime trade from the workers there and business people in the area.  We have a good reputation for quality ales with normally a choice of five at any one time.  This, along with the food and friendly atmosphere, attracts not only the locals but people from as far away as Colchester, Southend and the Kent region.  Refurbished in April 2008, open plan in style, we have retained our traditional look with low beamed ceilings and two open fires, there is a bar area and dining section with a total of 13 tables.  If you come to dine you will find this a very cosy environment to have a quality meal with friends and family.  The food menu is extensive and is complimented by a superb choice of wines, soft drinks and beers from the bar.  The Boars Head is an extremely old pub dating back to Tudor times 500 years ago.  Originally 3 cottages the building was first licensed in the 18th Century. We have been the haunt of Dick Turpin and more recently a number of people have reported supernatural experiences!  We have found the words 'Young Mary 1805' written in the loft, probably referring to a former landlady.  Also at night we have had doors opened, glasses broken, ash trays moved and people have even seen shadows!  When you join us we will be happy to tell you more.  Whether coming from the nearby Country Park, the local golf courses or just passing through, you will always receive a warm welcome from the team.

When you visit the pub please let the staff know you have seen it on Pub Explorer.
