The Martyrs Inn dates back to 1915
and is located in Tolpuddle, near Dorchester. The
original building was knocked down in the first World War to allow
tanks to pass through the village. The name,
'Martyrs', originates from the forming of the first
of the trade unions and
Tolpuddle continues to be the location of the annual TUC parade
when
the whole area is closed for the event - there is a
museum dedicated to this in the village. This attractive venue has contemporary
styling and an informal atmosphere. Outside,
the large, south facing patio is a popular place to
chill out in the summer months and enjoy a leisurely
drink or meal. Visit us next time you are in
the area and receive your very warm welcome. |
