Originally
an Inn, The Old Inn was built by the
workers who built the St Pancras Church situated across the road.
It gave them a place to eat and sleep at. Since then extensions to
the old part of the pub
have been added. Similar to a tardis, being much bigger inside
than it looks outside, you can wander from room to room and take in the
oak beams and stone walls which give us our olde worlde charm. The
central part of the pub has exposed stone walls and the beams are 700 years old!
The
old stable is fully intact and is now part of the restaurant. In total
five
real fires are lit in cooler months including three open fires and two log burners.
One of these is an attractive feature of the conservatory and as it is
raised up, when lit, its quite a spectacle. Our pub offers a welcoming, friendly
'home from home' atmosphere. The whole pub can comfortably
seat 230 so you will always find an area to suit your needs. A
'Jewel in the Moors' our pub also has a landscaped garden.
The water
features include a stream which runs into ponds and two fountains.
We have two
gazebos and the whole garden has 300 seats for al fresco dining!
Situated in the middle of Widecombe In The Moor village, which is in the
valley, you can look up onto the moor from our pub. There is an
annual event of the famous Widecombe Fair
which sees 6000 to 7000 people visiting the village.
Whatever the time of year you will be very welcome
to try good drink and excellent freshly prepared
meals at the Old Inn. |
