Bath House pub, ExmouthThe Bath House in Exmouth has a stunning location 50 feet from the sea!  The large patio area with seating for up to 120 people, offers an ideal venue for summertime dining or a refreshing drink for the whole family.  Inside is bright with bucket seats and sofas for more relaxed comfort.  This is a family orientated pub and, although we are a Hungry Horse, we cater for a mixture of people coming in for just a drink, a slap up meal or light bite.  The 'lads bar’ has a pool table and a darts board.  The most distinctive features from the outside of this cream coloured building are the double breasted chimney pots.  There is ample space for 80 covers in the restaurant, a further 20 to 30 in the lounge and up to 40 in the bar, not to mention 120 outside. The atmosphere is enhanced by the fact that the manager is very prepared to try something a bit new.  Be sure to visit this rather different venue very soon.

History: Thoroughly researched:
First built in the 1700’s as a private dwelling.  A Doctor Thomas Burridge from London later took it over and turned it into a medicinal bath house, where people would come from far and wide to take a healing salt water or other treatment bath to aid the healing process.  Quite a few years later  it was turned into a café and then a pub.  More recently a nightclub was built onto the side of it.  It re-established itself as more of a restaurant / food led business.  One of the only original features remaining are two pillars behind the bar which formed the original doorway of the first building.  Also, unseen underneath the Ladies and Gents toilets, are parts of the flooring and tiles from the baths.
