Attracting many walkers and
passers by because of our rural location The Great
Northern is in a picturesque spot by the
canal. This is a proper old fashioned pub catering for couples and
older people rather than young persons. The building is an old one
with plenty of pictures and photos of the canal and its restoration.
The wooden beams are highlighted by a number of horse brasses, etc. The
Great Northern has varied entertainment which is held every
night and enjoyed by all. It ranges from quiz nights with jackpot
prizes to live
singers. This is a trouble free and very female friendly venue where
good quality pub food can always be found along with superb beers and real
ales. A pint of one of our Hardys and Hansons real ales completes a
delicious Sunday lunch! Outside, the beer garden overlooks the canal
with customers welcome to dine there on warm and sunny days. There
is even a play area for the children. As the pub has a number of
rooms, the area at the back can be used for private functions. There
is no door to separate you from the rest of the pub but we can put up a
'private party' sign! A warm welcome is given to regulars and
newcomers alike, so why not come to the Great Northern this week.
