Royal Oak is a real Tudor
(1600's), traditional
alehouse. Refurbished in December 2007, we have retained original
characteristic qualities such as black beams and a real fire. The
patio area / beer garden is a great feature, popular with ramblers to relax
in after a days walking. The pub consists of
two rooms, a main front bar and back room, which are now joined by an open
doorway. We are in a
picturesque part of the Lake District with many fell walkers coming to us to
take in the excellent friendly and olde worlde atmosphere. We are very well known by locals,
students and visitors
alike for our good range of real ales and beers which can be enjoyed in a trouble free
environment. A snack type menu is on offer every day, with hot and
cold sandwiches, soup and more to choose from. Many people come annually from far and wide to visit this very
special pub.
