 We are a comfortable country pub
situated between Ulverston and Coniston in the "unspoilt part of the
English Lake District". Connie & Geoff took over the pleasure
of running the Red Lion Inn in September
2004 and have made a few changes since then. These include a restaurant with 22 covers, where you can enjoy traditional home
cooked English fayre, which is prepared using fresh local produce and
includes a good range of specials. Famous for puddings, they offer an
award winning rhubarb & strawberry crumble and the talking point is the
'chocolate rumpy pumpy, which once tried you will come back for more.
You can enjoy a relaxing drink while the origins of the rumpy pumpy are
explained to you! Their saying goes "if you want some rumpy pumpy
come to the Red Lion". The Red
Lion's beer garden has views of Coniston Old Man or you can snuggle up
to our cosy real log fires in the winter. Our two fully modernised
guest bedrooms have en-suite shower and toilet. This is the ideal place to
"get away from it all". The new monthly theme night is
proving a popular event with everyone, so keep an eye out for that. A
very warm welcome is given to everyone so why not come along soon and make use of a real Lakeland
pub.
