Stay
with us at the Bridge Hotel and you will
share in a long and fascinating history. Set between Buttermere and Crummock
Water and surrounded by the Buttermere Fells in an area of outstanding
natural beauty, the hotel is on a site which has been occupied for over 1000
years. The hotel has 21 bedrooms, which are well furnished and
constantly upgraded. Some are rated as superior and several have four-poster
beds. All have direct dial telephone. Televisions and radios are not
provided because of poor local reception due to the surrounding fells - most
of our guests consider this an advantage! The bars are full of
character and serve excellent food and a comprehensive range of drinks
including real ale and hot beverages.
Built
in 1992 in the gardens of the hotel, our six self-catering apartments ehich
prove extremely popular. The apartments all enjoy the same stunning
view straight up Buttermere to Haystacks and the Buttermere Round. They are
south facing so capture much of the day's sunshine through the large windows
in the living area - which give onto your private patio space or balcony.
Sitting in landscaped gardens immediately above Sail Beck, the self-catering
apartments are tastefully designed and furnished, offering an exceptional
standard of accommodation for walking and family holidays. The six
apartments are disposed over two floors; the three lower sleep up to four
people; the three upper sleep up to six people and have two bathrooms.
All
six boast every luxury - dishwashers, fridge/freezers, full sized ovens,
toasters and microwaves complement the well-proportioned kitchens.
Each apartment has electric central heating, direct dial telephone, and
satellite television (cards not supplied - please bring your own). There is
ample space for storage of your belongings and for the parking of cars.
The
hotel bar offers an exceptional range of beers, spirits and good food.
The
hotel restaurant is open to non-residents. As well as our apartments we have
a beautiful cottage which is situated at the foot of Grassmoor, on the
Proprietor's farm some three miles from the hotel. The recently
renovated 17th Century cottage is full of character and charm, has it's own
garden and ample parking space. We regret that it is not suitable for
wheelchairs nor can we accept dogs as it is a working hill farm.
The
Bridge Hotel has a number of dining options to suit every taste and budget.
The bars are full of character and serve excellent food and a comprehensive
range of hot beverages. We specialise in real ales, which are expertly kept.
The bars are open all day. We offer a homemade selection of traditional
English bar luncheons and suppers, including local dishes such as Cumberland
Sausage, Cumberland Hot Pot and for fish lovers, delicious Borrowdale trout
and local salmon. Vegetarian options are always available.
The dining room is one of the oldest in the hotel, and is furnished to a
high standard. A five course table d 'hote dinner with a number of choices is
served daily. On offer too is a choice of over fifty wines carefully
selected to complement your meal.
