Swan pub, Bucklow HillThe Swan is an old building dating back to the mid 17th century. Located in Bucklow Hill near Mere and Knutsford, this Brewers Fayre is in quite a rural setting, sited on the A556 which links the M6 to the M56.  There are plenty of Cheshire walks through quaint villages and ones with big beautiful houses to appreciate.  Rostherne is a good example of one which has a beautiful Church with a part-framed roof dating back many, many years.  We re-opened following a refurbishment in February 2009. Still traditional in theme but now decorated in warm colours of burgundy/gold it has a warm feel about it which is particularly welcoming in an evening.  Furniture has been re-upholstered along with new carpets and curtains. The toilets have also had a face lift. Often, people use our car park as a base, enjoy their walk and return for a bite to eat and a drink with us.  The deer running free is a beautiful sight at the National Trust's Tatten Park as well as Tatten Hall itself which is a great place to have a guided tour and visit the working farm.  It is also a venue for weddings.  More local is Mere Golf & Country Club which is also available for functions including weddings of up to 450 people.  Our busiest time of year is when the Royal Horticultural Show is on, with the Premier Inn being an ideal destination for anyone wishing to stay over. With the Swan being next door you don't need to do any more travelling - just dine and relax, having been on your feet all day at the show.  Inside this traditionally decorated pub are wonderful features such as the exposed original wattle and daub wall made with willow pieces which is behind glass to preserve it.  A previous owner of the Swan had a prize winning race horse which his beloved owner had buried in a grave on the site of the Swan and his silver plated horses hooves are still on display today!  Quality food is served at a reasonable price and the children's menu holds appetizing choices for our younger visitors. Come and visit this interesting venue in the near future and meet the friendly staff who are ready to welcome you.
