OLD ENGLISH INNS

|
|
ABOUT
US |
|
Located in the sleepy
village of Holywell, The Old Ferry Boat is England’s oldest inn. Built
before the last millennium, it overlooks the Great Ouse, which winds
itself around the tiny hamlet, near St Ives. The beautifully thatched
roof and white stonework stand as a monument to travellers who once
rested here centuries ago after quenching their thirst and satisfying
their hunger with the finest English fare. |

Situated on the banks of the
Great Ouze, the Old
Ferry Boat is the
oldest Inn in England. With it's thatched roof it is famous for a
ghost which roams the site and various ghost hunting clubs have stayed the
night to spot the apparition of a girl who committed suicide on St. Patrick's
Day many years ago! You will however be given a warm, friendly
welcome from the helpful team of staff when you visit us at the Old Ferry
Boat. Cuisine is cooked to order from freshly prepared ingredients
and alongside our extensive main menu we have a specials board and vegetarian
options and a children's menu. Choice is therefore not an issue! We are
well known for our large selection of mouth watering fresh
fish dishes which, of course, are seasonal. You will find all our
meals prepared to
usual high standards. All 7 of the en-suite bedrooms have individual character and offer homely,
comfortable accommodation. The Old Ferry Boat is a popular venue for all
special occasions which can be held in our separate function room - all enquiries
are welcome. Our garden which looks over the river, or the patio,
is ideal for sitting outside and enjoying a relaxing drink in the warmer
weather. Everyone can come and join in the fun. If
you are coming for a drink, meal or to stay, you can be guaranteed a
warm reception. |
