Swan PhotoThe Swan is a 300 year old building which was once known as the Coach and Horses.  Historically it was originally Hog Sty Farm with a small Coach House attached where horses could be rested and watered.  Part of the original farmhouse building can be found embedded in the cellar walls of the Swan!  Hog Sty End was at the crossroads of the tracks from Woburn, Bow Brickhill, Aspley Guise and Wavendon.  This provided passing trade and afforded the opportunity to deal goods and refreshments to travellers. The road from Hockliffe to Woburn had a turnpike in 1706 and later it was extended through Hogsty End to Kingston Bridge.  In 1727 business would have increased as it was a well maintained road and the stages which took this road brought more trade to the Inns that opened to service the passers by.  Today guests are able to browse a new menu which includes a wide variety of freshly prepared classic pub dishes such as slow cooked Shoulder of Lamb, daily fresh fish dishes and homemade Pie of the Day.  There is also a separate lunch menu offering freshly made sandwiches and salads - perfect if you’re just nipping in for a quick bite.  Look out for the blackboard showing today’s specials and the thoughtfully selected range of delicious vegetarian options.  There is an extensive wine selection to complement your meal as well as a variety of continental lagers.  With no need to book, just come in and we'll look after you. The Swan boasts a stylish interior which adds to the traditional charm and character of the building.  Features include roaring open fires and several cosy areas to relax in.  Guests are given great, friendly service in a relaxed atmosphere.  Come and try us soon.
