The Red Lion
is situated next to Wendover
Woods, with RAF Halton just down the road. This 16th
Century Coaching House was fully refurbished in 2008 retaining
its cosy, olde worlde style with original features such as the beautiful 17th Century fireplace
and exposed beams. There is also a log burner in an
alcove. The layout is open plan with a couple of alcoves
and the restaurant is separate from the bar area, seating up to
94 people. Steeped in history it is rumoured that Oliver
Cromwell once stayed in the Inn and addressed his troops from
one of the upstairs windows. Being less than an hour's
train ride from London this is a popular place for visitors to
enjoy a quiet change of scene and maybe a country walk or a
wander round the mini town of Wendover. We are proud to offer quality food
here which is all
prepared in house and cooked to order, using locally sourced
produce wherever possible. We have an excellent range of cask ales as well as
a fantastic
selection of world wines to complement your meal. There
are 23 en-suite rooms, refurbished to a high standard with free wi-fi access.
Come and see us soon.
