Chef & BrewerYe Olde Leathern Bottel in Barkham is in a semi rural location.  The building dates back to the 17th Century and has retained much of its olde worlde character with old beams, low ceilings, nooks and crannies.  Candles on the tables complete a romantic ambience.  History has it that weary travellers would see this venue as the first building they came to in a barren heath landscape, travelling North.  The gallant French highwayman, Claude Duval, is said to have owned a house nearby and another local character was Molly Miller, much feared as the town witch.  Today this is a much more welcoming venue offering better food and drink than in the days of highwaymen and witches!  Like all Chef & Brewer pubs we employ high quality Chefs who have superb kitchen facilities.  The food can be chosen from a main menu or unique Specials from the chalk boards which allow our Chefs to show their flair!  You will be served meals which have been prepared from the freshest of ingredients and cooked to order.  To complement your meal there is an extensive choice of quality wines.  Real ales are a very popular alternative to the wine and we offer heavier, warmer ones in the winter and lighter ones for the summer.  Ideal for being enjoyed in the beer garden on a warm sunny evening!  Come along soon and be given a friendly welcome by the helpful team at this rather special destination food house.
