The
Griffin is located on the outskirts of Reading in the suburb of Caversham. With the River Thames flowing behind the pub, if you
are on a cruise down the river, you can moor up, walk over Caversham
Bridge and call in to enjoy some great food or quench your thirst!
There has been a pub on the site since the 1800's and it was rebuilt in
1916. In those days eels were a speciality, fished in the river
and brought to be sold in the pub. Today welcoming open lit fires
will greet you in the winter to give a warm reception and
during the summer you can enjoy a heated patio area to have your meal al
fresco. Like all Chef & Brewer pubs we employ high
quality Chefs who have superb kitchen facilities. The food can be
chosen from a main menu or unique Specials from the chalk boards which
allow our Chefs to show their flair! The fish dishes are a particular
favourite. You will be served meals which have been prepared from
the freshest of ingredients and cooked to order. To complement
your meal there is an extensive choice of quality wines or a good
selection of real ales if you prefer. We are well known for our
real ales and are part of the CAMRA Beer Trail so if you are not hungry,
pop in for a pint of the best. All are made to feel very welcome
at the Griffin.
