The Berkshire Arms
in Midgham lies halfway between Newbury and
Reading on the A4 Bath Road. Dating back to the 18th Century, it was built
on a gravel pit as a farmhouse and was a private home until about the mid
1980's. This imposing building has two stories to the front and fairly
high ceilings and real fires inside. It was transformed into a Chef &
Brewer in 2002 and now attracts regular diners, passing trade (many from the
Premier Travel Inn next door), and locals who pop in for a quality pint from the bar.
Like all Chef & Brewer pubs we employ high quality Chefs who have
superb kitchen facilities. The food can be chosen from a main menu
or unique Specials from the chalk boards which allow our Chefs to show
their flair! You will be served meals which have been prepared
from the freshest of ingredients and cooked to order. Fresh fish dishes are favourites here. To complement your meal there is an
extensive choice of quality wines or real ales and other drinks are available at the bar. The staff
here are efficient , friendly and welcoming. Some are proficient in
languages such as French, German, Spanish, Hungarian and Polish! Treat
yourself to a rather special meal next time you are in the area. The interesting team look forward to your visit.
