The
original building of The New Inn
dates back to the 13th Century and was a single storey dormitory for
monks and pilgrims visiting the old abbey. It became a Coaching
Inn in the 16th Century where passengers and horses of the three or four coaches a day passing through Cerne Abbas
were looked after until the last coach in 1855. Today the venue
has seven en-suite bedrooms,
a comfortable
bar area with log burning stove and a dining room. Outside there is a
spacious family garden with fruit trees, the ideal place to enjoy al
fresco dining. The A la carte menu includes
fish, game, meat and vegetarian dishes plus an ever changing market specials. Cerne Abbas is eight miles north of Dorchester on the A352. The New Inn is located in
the centre of the village at the foot of the 180' chalk Giant. Please see
our own website, link above, for even more details. Jeremy and the team will give you a warm welcome.
