Close to Stonehenge and just half an hour from Bath on the A342 between
Chippenham and Devizes, the George & Dragon is a 17th Century pub restaurant
which is well worth
a visit. Inside there is an impressive open fire, wooden floors, exposed
beams, polished tables and window seating. Hanging baskets decorate the
outside and there is a lovely garden where you can eat your meal in the summer
sunshine. The pub is famous for food, having achieved several awards
and been entered in various guides. The fish comes from Cornwall and is
freshly prepared and cooked to order with favourites being warm salad of
scallops with bacon and home grilled lemon sole. During the Winter, game
dishes are the order of the day. Food can be eaten in the restaurant which has about 30 covers, or the bar with it's seating for 10. Wine can be
chosen from an impressive selection to complement the meal and there is coffee
to complete the experience. From the bar we stock real ales from the local
breweries which are changed on a regular basis. If you are looking for an
extra special place with something a bit different to offer, the George &
Dragon will definitely fit the bill.
